Here I am at 20 weeks - the halfway point! I'm still keeping Hostess in business by my incredible consumption of blueberry muffins. The belly is expanding at a rapid rate and my belly button has become a "halfie." The bottom half is completely flat, but the top half now pokes out. I originally thought stuffing some tissue in it and covering it with a band-aid would keep things in, but at this point I'm just waiting for Little Boomer to kick it completely out.

It's a BOY!!!!!
We had a great doctor's visit today. The ultrasound showed a healthy (and extremely active) baby boy. He pretended to be shy at first. He'd look at us and then flip around. Once the ultrasound tech was able to pinpoint he was a boy, the shyness seemed to disappear. I'm at a net of 11 pounds, which is on track. Here are some of my favorite photos from today.
Here's our son showcasing his muscles by flexing for the camera. He punched my uterus a couple of times, which should be fun in the later stages of pregnancy.
Here's the confirmation that he is a boy. Just to clarify...the ultrasound tech put all those arrows pointing to my son's private parts, not me.
Here's his legs all stretched out. This is a view from the bottom.

Little Bit has been moving like crazy especially after something sweet. I haven't wanted any sweets, but this past week my love for cookies, cakes and all things chocolate came back with a vengance. My latest craving is Hostess mini blueberry muffins, which I guess is better than my Lucky Charms and Peanut Butter sandwich. Don't forget to cast your votes now. Wednesday is the big day so check back Wednesday night to find out if it's a boy or girl.

Snow day
The Saints won the Super Bowl and it snowed all in the same week. It didn't snow for very long and everything melted by 10am, but it was an extra vacation day which I enjoyed in my pj's. Here are a few pictures I captured before the meltdown.

Adventures in Teaching - Super Bowl Style
I didn't get the memo. I know the Saints won the Super Bowl, but what I didn't know was that it gave people an automatic pass on all work or signs of acting like a civil human being. Case in point...my classroom. At a school of 1400, we had 500 absences on Monday. Most showed up today and were mind-blown that we took notes. GASP!!! When asked what they did yesterday, some of my favorite responses were, "Slept." "Well my parents decided to call in sick so they didn't make me go either." "I just figured they should have canceled school anyway so I was trying to make a point." How's that for protesting? Today, they were all quite surprised I was giving a test. Mind you the test was scheduled since Monday of last week. So my little protesters decided to get vocal. "How could you do that to us, Mrs. Rodrigue? You must not be a fan of the Who Dats." At the end of the day looking around my disheveled room, I realized something...thank God the Mardi Gras holidays are almost here.

18 Weeks
Little Bit (Brian is still calling the baby, "Boomer") is growing rapidly. This week the baby is the size of an avocado. (A special thanks to Auntie Ranny for sending me that website.) I am definitely feeling a lot more movement, but you still can't feel anything just by putting your hand on my belly. I have had to temporarily retire all of my non-maternity pants. It's not a sad transition because I really love those stretchy maternity pants!!! My weirdest craving to date has been Fanta Strawberry drinks. I never drank Fanta before I was pregnant so I'm not sure where this is coming from. King Cake has made it to the list of undesired food so I guess I'll have to enjoy the Mardi Gras season some other way.
We'll be wearing our black and gold tonight and hopefully Little Bit doesn't hear too many curse words only echoes of Who Dat! Go Saints!!!
