My chunky monkey

How can you not feed this kid? Look how happy he is.

What's wrong with this picture?

Is it wrong that I have a bib on my kid but no clothes?

Future weatherman?

First it was Oprah, now this is what happens in the morning. He is so focused on the TV so he can see Johnny Ahysen and Greg Meriwhether. No, these are not the latest additions to Elmo's World. These are the newsmen on WAFB. He just cracks up when they appear on screen, and I just can't understand it.

Johnny just reported there is a traffic jam on I-12.

Jumping time

Cameron's favorite toy lately has been his jumper. The sad part is that he's only 1 notch away from outgrowing the darn thing. Yes, he is long, but it's mainly the weight that is pulling the whole contraption down.

Little House on the Prairieville

2010 was the year of the cows for us. My Aunt Brenda found the most amazing outfit to commemorate our cow adventure. It's a cow bib and check out the tail on the butt!!!!

Cameron likes to show off his western wear. No, he is not taking his first steps. He actually poops standing up, which is the most bizarre thing. Potty training may not go as planned if he thinks you have to stand up to poop.

Sippy cup accident

We've given Cameron a sippy cup to practice with. I think he is using it more for facial purposes than for nutrition, but it doesn't seem to bother him.

Loving this warmer weather!

I couldn't find Cameron's sunglasses so I gave him mine and put his hat on. The glasses really didn't phase him at all.

Grocery Shopping

I started taking Cameron shopping since he is fully capable of sitting up on his own. We took trips to Lowe's and Home Depot and both times he sat up in the cart and just had a blast. Well I got a little over confident about ditching the kid carrier. Cameron and I went to Wal-Mart. I sat him up in the seat part of the grocery cart and buckled him in. It was a pretty cold day so I damn near ran to get us into the store. I guess he must have felt a couple of G-forces because his balance and equilibrium were all thrown off. It started with a slow lean to the left. I adjusted him back upright. He started the lean again. Back upright. I started loading the basket with essentials, and the next thing I know the kid is leaning completely sideways in the cart. I prop him back upright by wedging the diaper bag on the leaning side. He starts leaning the other way. Seriously? I prop him up with my hand on the other side, but this basket is getting too heavy to maneuver with one hand. Then the fussiness starts. Oh no. I'm in the baby food aisle staring at Cameron, shoving a pacifier in his mouth, and pleading with him. I then start to unbuckle him thinking I'll just carry him. Am I nuts? That's 20 something pounds of wiggle worm and driving a 40 pound grocery cart with one arm. I am not the Hulk. I do what any mother would do...I buckle that kid back up and take off. I am pushing the basket at a half jog and we are taking turns on two wheels. We're going pretty fast. You want to know how I know? The wind is flying through Cameron's hair and the acceleration has caused him to lean all the way back. In the check out line, he is out of it. It's as though he never sat up a day in his life and now he has reverted to the stage of no neck control. We made it though and he regained neck control shortly thereafter.

The giggles

Cameron is really into Peek a Boo, but he hates the camera. He will shut down completely and just stare at the camera as though it's the paparazzi from TMZ. We managed to disguise the camera in order to capture his giggles on film.

6 month visit

Cameron went to the doctor for his 6 month check up. He's been feeling a bit under the weather with some sinus congestion but it wasn't severe. The sinus trouble wasn't enough to slow his appetite. He's still on the charts weighing in at 19 lbs 15 oz and 27 inches. It may be the 90th percentile, but he's still listed.

Updates:
No teeth...yet. I'm concerned about dehydration on account of excessive drooling, but that doesn't seem to be a legitimate opic in the baby books.

Sleeping...not so much. Here's where unanswered prayers are for the best. I prayed and prayed that my little butterball would learn to roll over. We practiced and practiced, and he just wouldn't. Not couldn't...wouldn't. Then the Lord said, "He will roll." The continuation of that is, "while he is sleeping and this will piss him off." Every night he tries to roll to his side and the nearly 20 pounds takes him all the way over to his belly. Well he screams and screams until I get up and turn him back on his side. This happens about 5 times a night.

Parents of the year...disqualified. We inclined his crib mattress at the suggestion of our pediatrician. Cameron doesn't roll or at least he didn't until...see above. The very first night we inclined him, I hear Cameron screaming an hour after putting him to bed. I look into his crib and my poor child has rolled all the way down his mattress into the crack in between the mattress and the crib bumper. Ooops.
