Oh no!
Who taught him this? Cameron was lying on the couch with Brian and watching some football. The next thing I know he's sleeping on the couch holding himself. Awesome. He discovered his boy parts during bath time, and he grabs on as though we might wash it off. I guess this is a picture of ultimate relaxation and the beginning of man hood.

Cameron is definitely getting to a fun age. He's developing his own personality and is staying awake a lot more. He's eating every veggie I can find, and he's starting to hold his own bottle. He can drool through about 4 bibs in a day, and he will chew on anything - fingers, paper towels, spoons, toys, your chin. Cameron is sitting up and actually playing with his toys and by playing I mean tasting. Oprah is quickly becoming someone he can talk to. I'm serious. Everyday at 4pm when Oprah starts talking he starts babbling back to her. He won't sleep through the night, but I like to believe it's because he misses us. It's either that or he wants to upgrade to a queen size bed.

Did someone call the bomb squad?
This is what happens when you start waking your husband up. Cameron started teething, and it seems like he has a growth spurt every night between the hours of 9pm and 4am. What this means is that he went from sleeping straight through the night to waking up once every hour. Yikes! I started waking up Brian around 3 to feed Cameron because why should I allow him to miss out on this prime bonding time. Well Brian was determined to solve this sleeping issue in no time. His solution????

It's called Baby Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit. It looks like my child is straight out of the movie, The Hurt Locker. If you haven't seen it, imagine grown ups in Baby Merlin's sleep suit diffusing bombs. Well Brian consulted fellow daddies who gave this suit two thumbs up. Babies have to give this suit two thumbs up because they aren't able to move much more than that. What's it like? Imagine wearing a down comforter that won't cause you to get hot. It actually seems quite cozy. We put Cameron in his sleeping suit, and I swear Brian and I both checked on him at least twice an hour to make sure he was still breathing. He lost his nuk a few times, which is not unusual but here's the weird thing. The second you put the nuk in, he was unconscious. Usually you have to rub his head, hold his hand, talk to him...not with the suit. It's like this incredible force field. I have no idea what to make of it. I have some sadness with putting him in the suit because he used to be a side sleeper, but movement is out of the question in his portable pillow top. He does seem to be quite cozy, and it's great for the cold weather.

Christmas time
We decorated the tree the Sunday before Thanksgiving, but I decided to hold the post until now. Cameron really wanted nothing to do with the ornaments, but I insisted he put at least one on. He's a little intimidated by Santa. My mom gave me this talking Santa that reads Twas the Night Before Christmas, and he just cried and cried. Why is it funny to laugh at kids in their moment of weakness? Too darn cute if you ask me. He's getting better with Santa, but we haven't seen the real one yet.
5 months old
Five months. Five! That old cliche of "they grow up so fast" is right on the money. Cameron is finally growing into his feet, which I don't think ever fit into newborn socks. Here's what he's been up to lately.
Cameron plays with his toys all the time. The workbench is one of his favorites, and I find myself at work humming the tunes that play from it. In addition to the toys, he still enjoys being stuffed into boxes for the sake of pictures. I'm pretty sure he likes it. :-)
Cameron sits up all by himself. I'm not kidding. There's no magic hand in the picture holding him up. His center of gravity is so low and his belly supports him in the front. Yes, my little love learned to sit before rolling over.

Does this kid look like he's missing many meals? He's starting eating vegetables, and he can gobble up some carrots. He often gets distracted and decides that having a mouth full of carrots is the perfect time to practice blowing bubbles.

I cannot get a picture of Cameron rolling over. He has gone from front to back and vice versa, but I am beginning to think that was all a dream. He definitely will not flip on command, especially when the cameras are out.
My little do is such a blessing and has been so much fun these past five months. He's giggling a lot now, especially when Brian is around.

Christmas pictures
I've been trying to capture the perfect picture for our Christmas cards. Cameron is four and a half months, and I'm not a photographer so "perfect" is a relative term. Let me take you through the different scenarios.
Picture 1 - Who doesn't love a chunky baby in a santa suit? It's amazing that the clothes fit him, but the hat is cutting off the circulation to his brain. I'm not kidding. He's not really smiling. The hat is pulling all the skin on his face back to give him that permanent botox-like smile. This photo op went fairly well until he discovered the ornaments. Glitter on ornaments + four month old teething baby = shiny gums and sparkling poop. Not very smart on my part but worth it.
Picture 2 - So calm and subdued. You would never believe how many times he rolled right off the pillow that is wedged under his head. I also won't give you a number because frankly I lost count. I didn't think it would be that tricky to balance Cam on his side, but he proved me wrong. This was also just minutes before the vomiting incident where my child decided to recreate Santa's beard for a more realistic portrait. (See earlier post)
Picture 3 - Where in the hell did I get the idea that polyfill looks like snow? Here's a better question...why in the hell didn't I learn from picture 1 that my son puts things in his mouth? Now I have a kid with shiny, fluffy poop. None of these made the cut so you'll have to check back for the final few pictures.
