30 week visit

How on earth did the time pass by so quickly? I can't believe I only have 10 weeks to go. I know it's hard to hide the belly, but really...30 weeks?! My check up went pretty well today. Boomer's heartbeat is in the high 140's, and he kicked the Doppler machine a few times just to let us know how he felt about going to the doctor. I am at a net total of 22 pounds, which is just shocking considering the food intake. I am slightly anemic, which didn't surprise me since snowballs contain about 0% iron. Brian made me a beet and cucumber salad to try and up the iron intake. I sure do love him, but beets??? Trust me, I will search high and low until I find a candy bar high in iron. Boomer loves his sugar.

Here's a picture of my latest craft project. I miss my painting, but this came out so much better than I thought. It's a Spartan Volleyball onesie. It says 0-3 months, but I have no idea how his big head is going to fit in that thing. He may fit it for the first 2 days out of the womb, but rest assured there will be a picture.

29 weeks

I'm not sure where the time is going, but it sure feels like it's starting to fly by. Only 4 weeks left of school and only 11 weeks until my due date. I really need to get on the ball! I have started "nesting" at school. It's more along the lines of...I'm cleaning up my classroom now because I'm ready for summer vacation. I don't think it has a bit to do with the baby.

28 weeks

I know this post is a little late. I'm slacking lately. In this picture you can kind of see my protruding belly button, or my "snooze" button as my students call it. I'm waiting for the day when they notice a second belly button popping out, which is usually just an elbow or a knee trying to make room. You may notice that my belly looks just a tad bit higher. I've started wearing a maternity belt to take some of the pressure off of my pelvis. It's a cross between a girdle and a weight lifters belt. Either way it's holding me up and in, and poor little Boomer just lost all his leg room.

28 week check up

I passed! This week was my glucose test, and I passed without cheating. I had to drink this "nasty" drink, wait an hour and then have blood drawn to check how my body responded. I have quotes around nasty because I actually found the drink to be quite tasty. The nurse handed me the 8 ounces of fruit flavored goodness while some other onlookers waited to see my face twist in disgust. The nurse even gave me a time limit of 5 minutes to drink this stuff. Thirty seconds later, I was handing the nurse an empty bottle while my doubting onlookers sat puzzled. It was a good visit. Four more pounds gained and Boomer's heartbeat is still in the 150's. From now on I'll be going to the doctor every two weeks. YIKES!!

On a completely unrelated note, if you have school-age kids, please help them learn how to be more sneaky about cheating. I miss the days of libraries and encyclopedias. I can't tell you how many research papers I had that still had the website hyperlinks underlined and colored in blue! I do love the copy and paste feature, but at least I make it look like something I typed. Please remind your children to click "Edit," "Select All," and then change the font color to black before printing. I'm not encouraging cheating, but I am encouraging being more aware of the features available in Microsoft Word.

27 weeks

I am 27 weeks, and I must say the time seems to be flying. My belly button is just an oddity now. It'll be flat one minute and then when Boomer decides to stretch out, my belly button pops out. He was moving around the other day and my belly button was in the shape of a triangle! To my relief it was either his knee or elbow trying to make some room.

Easter was pretty interesting this year. How come nobody tells you about the weird symptoms associated with pregnancy? I was at Easter mass on Sunday with my hair fixed, legs freshly shaved, a skirt and even heels on. (Brian was so proud.) Well not two minutes into mass, I start sweating profusely!!! It was freezing in church and here I am with beads of sweat dripping from the sides of my face (you can only imagine where else). Brian puts his hand on back to see if I was okay, and all I could manage to say was, "Get your hand off me!" (Is this foreshadowing of what's to come in labor and delivery?) Well I couldn't decide if I was going to throw up or pass out, but all I could think about was...am I too heavy for Brian to pick me up off the floor? (Why on earth do these things enter my mind in times of distress?) So the priest didn't even make it through the Gloria when I worked up the courage to walk to the back of church to the bathroom. It felt like I was surrounded by funhouse mirrors, and I'm still not sure how I made it back there. The Lord must have carried me back there. Needless to say I was done. Brian spent the day nursing me back to health, while I felt horrible about missing Easter with our families. I guess I'm learning that you will sacrifice anything for the sake of your child.

26 weeks

I'm 26 weeks with less than 100 days to go. Brian and I were on vacation this week so we used this week to rest and relax. We did manage to help Kaleb and Jacob with an Easter egg hunt. Those kids were so cute in their bunny masks.

Rene, Josh and Coen made the trip to Louisiana for a few days, and we were able to get together so I could meet Coen for the first time. He's so adorable!!! Coen was born in October, and it's weird to think Coen and Boomer will be in the same grade.
