The sneeze
I have no idea why I find this so funny, but I guess it's just a mom thing. I have at least an hour of Cameron footage on film just waiting for him to sneeze. Finally...captured!

3 week pictures
Things have been going pretty well. I'm adjusting to a life spent only in REM sleep although Brian may say otherwise. At least once a night I'll sit up in bed and start frantically searching the sheets for Cameron. Okay, stop laughing. I'm not dreaming this either. I've never brought Cameron in my bed, but I will sit up in bed because I'm convinced I lost him somewhere in the sheets. Brian has had to stop me from taking the covers off the bed. My brain cells were destroyed during labor. It's a side effect they don't actively publish, but I'm sure it happens to most. Another side effect from this baby is being turned into a leaky faucet. I don't have to pay the spa for those expensive milk bath treatments because I can leak about 2 cups of water into the tub in the time it takes me to bathe. I really wouldn't have to latch Cameron on to nurse. He could just open his mouth and look up. My last side effect - and perhaps the biggest and most traumatic - is the case of the missing belly button. What happened to my belly button and when do I get it back? It's no secret that my belly button disappeared during my pregnancy (flip back to those archives if you've forgotten how large I became). I terrified my nephew Kaleb who didn't understand where my belly button went. It wasn't an outie or an innie. It became this black spot flush with the rest of my skin. Now it resembles Jabba the Hut. It's still not an outie or an innie. It's an excess of discolored skin that kind of looks like a mini piece of the plastic poops sometimes thrown at Mardi Gras parades. (How's that for a visual?) I'm not sure how long it takes for belly buttons to recover, but I'd appreciate any advice.
I tried to take pictures for Cameron's 3 week birthday, and this is what I got.

Pictures from the past few days
The sleeping at night has gotten much better. I dare say we even may have a - gasp - "nighttime schedule." Sure it's only been three days, and I'm sure I'll pay for making this statement with a lack of sleep tonight, but it feels like progress. I'm really not sure how this is affecting Cameron, but this picture gives me a pretty good idea. I knew he wasn't happy with being kept awake, but the kid crashed mid diaper change. This is how I left him.
Cameron's Nanny bought him this onesie from Florida. She said it reminded her of Brian's reaction to becoming a father. Apparently when he went to the waiting room to announce Cameron's birth, the first words out of his mouth were, "He's awesome." Thanks, Nanny!

Pictures from this weekend
Cameron has a full head of hair. This picture honestly doesn't do it justice. Usually after a wild night or a good nap, he looks like a mad scientist with hair sticking out everywhere.
It's tough being a baby. It's tough being a mom wondering if your baby has colic. I'm buying stock in Little Tummy gas drops because this is what our nights usually look like. The hospital does not supply a manual when you bring your child home, but don't think I didn't try to Google "things that make your newborn cry."

This was a fantastic weekend full of visitors. The following picture is my college roommates from apartment 909. These girls mean the world to me and no matter what life hands us someone always has a story to make you laugh. I couldn't have made it through college without them, and I won't make it through the rest of my life without them either. Thanks for making the drive, 909. Cameron and I appreciate the love!!!!

Cameron's naptime
Notice any similarities in the following three pictures? Here's one: my child is sleeping hard. Here's another: my child is getting a sunburn. How is that possible??? It's because he associates the sunshine with sleeping. I'm not kidding. When he was in the womb, 9:30pm was his playtime, but I thought, "Surely this doesn't mean anything." Hahaha. Joke's on me. Brian relieved me of the night shift duty on Friday. I slept from 10:30pm until 4am, and it was amazing! I didn't hear Cameron all night so I figured Brian got off easy. I walked down the stairs at 4 only to find Brian sitting on the sofa with Cameron. "How was it?" I got the look of pure evil, and his response goes without saying. (At least it wasn't just me.)

First doctor's visit and a nightmare feeding
Cameron got a clean bill of health from his first doctor's visit today. He's up in weight from 8 lbs 3 oz to 8 lbs 6 oz.
When we came home from the hospital, Meme had a welcome home sign in our yard and a balloon inside with this puppy attached. They are almost the same size!
Here's Daddy's little ball player watching some baseball.

This is one of the rare occasions Cameron is wide awake during the day. Usually the night is an adventure. For instance the other night he woke up screaming for some food. I went downstairs to feed him, and he proceeded to suck down 2 ounces of formula. I barely put the child in position to burp him and he decided to give me back a 1/2 oz of spit up. No big deal. I decided to change his diaper because of the rumbling sound in his tummy. I lifted his little legs for a thorough cleaning and out comes a giant fart explosion. The range of his spray fart covered his pjs, my clothes, the changing pad, the fresh diaper and my carpet. His daddy was impressed with the distance. No sooner had I dropped his legs to contain the damage before he decided to start the cleaning process with a stream of pee. It was a productive feeding.

Pictures
We are home and doing well. We are adjusting to our new little guy and loving every second of being with him. It's so hard to put him down knowing that one day he won't want to be held in my arms. He will have a photographed life, and I hope to keep this as updated as possible. It may take me a while to figure out the best way to post pictures on the blog. I'll get it though.

We had picture day on Saturday at Timeless Treasures in Gonzales. We managed to get some great shots. Cameron slept through most of the pictures although we did have his Nuk on standby. Here are just a few of the little moments they managed to capture.
