A Christmas Miracle

At Christmas we announced the good news that we're expecting our first child on July 9th. The ultrasound picture is from our first doctor's visit on November 25. All along we said we wanted to be surprised what gender our future baby would be. As soon as we saw that heart flutter and heard the most amazing sound in the world, we nixed the idea of being surprised. We'll let you know in February whether it's a boy or a girl. Baby Rodrigue did not walk away empty handed this Christmas. Here are a few baby gifts we got from our parents. (We told our parents on Thanksgiving, and they then had to keep a secret. Great job, grandparents!)

Making a Gingerbread House with Jacob

On Tuesday, I stopped by to help my godson, Jacob, make a gingerbread house. My apologies in advance to Tom and Maranda for what I'm about to say. Notice in the first couple of pictures how full our candy bowl is. I was trying my hardest to ice the house and pay attention to Jacob, but I slipped up somewhere along the way. I look over at the candy bowl and Jacob had consumed 75% of the gumdrops by the time we finished the edge of one side of the roof. Then we put the hersey kiss chimney on, and he looked at me with the cutest little face and asked if he could have one. So I unwrapped one, he ate it then proceeded to unwrap and eat five others. I finally got control of the situation and stopped him from eating all our supplies. Instead, he just licked all the candies he wanted and said, "I'll eat these later." How can you not spoil that? Sorry, again for what I imagine was a long night for the parents and a really bad tummy ache for Jacob.
