Back to School

Today was my first day back with students. Here are some highlights: One of the administrators called me in to the office with such a serious look on his face. My first response, "Does this have to do with something big and yellow?" (For those who may not know...I have my CDL but would rather not.) He looked at me and said, "You have on a white shirt." I about fell on the floor laughing. I then proceeded to tell him how this pregnancy was all a ploy to get out of driving the bus next year. He reassured me how quickly I'd be back on my feet and sitting behind that 20 inch steering wheel. I was thinking there would be several months to recoup post-labor so why is it that he referred to recovery in terms of WEEKS???

My students were too funny today. A two of my "fighter girls" previously taught and a boy I'm convinced is Mr. Cooper's son from Hanging with Mr. Cooper, were giggling about a question they had to ask me. Coop (name changed) said, "I don't want to ask you this because it seems so mean, but we have to - I have to - know...Are you pregnant?" After I confirmed their suspicions the fighter girl said, "Oh, cause you were looking kinda big."

It's going to be a fun semester. Fingers crossed. I know we go to a public school, but I am positive that 99% of those kids said a prayer today for a snow day tomorrow. We'll see.
